The man allegedly killed 20-year-old Rosali Violet Acquefreda during an ongoing child custody fight for their 3-year-old son, according to the New York Post.
Andre LeFrancois, 22, of Ansonia, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 2, and charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor, police said. He is being held on a $750,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Milford Superior Court the following day.
Acquerfreda was killed on Saturday, Aug. 30.
On that day, police thought they were going to the scene of a pedestrian versus motor vehicle accident, but what they found in Derby was a surprise.
Arriving at the area of Coe Lane and North Coe Lane on Aug. 30, around 4:50 p.m., police found a woman suffering from upper-body injuries “not consistent with a motor vehicle accident, but rather an assault,” Ansonia police said.
The 20-year-old woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
